Joan Odum Ordmandy is a Licensed Professional Counselor, nationally certified by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) in both general and EEG biofeedback. In 2007 she moved to Virginia to take the position of Clinical Director at Human Bionics and in 2008 joined Neurofeedback Consultants. During the 10 years prior to moving to Virginia, she owned and operated the Idaho Institute of Biofeedback at two locations. There she provided neurofeedback and general biofeedback training to a wide range of clients including those with AD/HD, addictions, autism, depression, anxiety disorders, stress related disorders, chronic and muscle pain, trauma related disorder, closed head injury and reactive attachment disorder.
Ms. Ordmandy received her training in biofeedback, neurofeedback, and quantitative electroencephalography at the University of North Texas. In addition to providing neurofeedback services to her clients, she also administers and interprets quantitative EEGs.
Ms. Ordmandy has over 14 years of administrative experience in both agency and college settings. Her background encompasses program development, grant writing, developing and monitoring budget, and hiring, supervising and training staff. Most recently she has been on the faculty of Boise State University as an Adjunct Professor, teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in addictions studies as well as biofeedback and neurofeedback.
In her more than twenty years of experience as a counselor, Ms. Ordmandy has worked in agency, clinical, in-patient and school settings. She received her training as an addictions counselor in the states of New York and Texas, and worked as an addictions counselor in a Texas based inpatient drug/alcohol treatment facility with a court ordered dual diagnosed population. Her background in counseling also includes mental health, crises, career, family violence (court ordered abusers and victims) and general counseling. In addition, Ms. Ordmandy has provided counseling services at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi where she also taught. In 1997, she began her independent private practice specializing in biofeedback and neurofeedback. Ms. Ordmandy has a M.S.Ed. in Counselor Education from State University College at Oneonta, Oneonta, New York.
